The project

The town councils that form the Mallorca public water network (Aguas Públicas de Mallorca - APM) (Campanet, Inca, Manacor, Palma, Pollença, Sa Pobla and Valldemossa) manage the water cycle of their towns both directly and through municipal companies. As the managers of these services, their vehicles are highly present in the towns and have a significant impact on climate change, air quality and noise pollution because of the fossil fuels used in their conventional engines.

In the case of Sa Pobla town council, it directly manages the supply and sanitation of the water cycle, and already has a Sustainable Energy Action Plan (Plan de Acción de Energía Sostenible - PAES) to meet the objectives in the fight against climate change. This action plan takes into account the advantages of having a fleet of electric vehicles to achieve these goals.

Therefore, one of the first steps is to replace the use of fossil fuels in conventional engines with alternative environmentally efficient technologies, in accordance with European strategy and the generational change in transportation technology.

In this sense, the town council of Sa Pobla plans to invest in an electric vehicle charging point and two vans that will replace two units of the town council's fleet that have conventional diesel powered engines and are twelve years old on average.
